The type of person who skydives is you!
People of all ages, shapes, sizes, genders, ethnicities, and professions skydive – everyone is welcome at the skydiving dropzone. And this is not a sentiment unique to Skydive Monroe; this is true of skydiving as a community. No matter where you are in the world, you are guaranteed to be met with shiny, happy people who are psyched to share the sky.
Of course, there are traits that people who skydive do have in common. Here are four we come across with our first-time tandem students every day.
An 18th Century poet named William Cowper was the first to say, “variety is the very spice of life, that gives it all its flavor” – and ain’t that the truth even today? We all get stuck in a rut and yearn for something new and, as it happens, skydiving is that special something a whole lot of folks have high on their bucket list.
Getting on a plane, climbing a few miles up, jumping out, freefalling at 120 mph, and then flying around under a parachute is definitely a departure from the same ol’ same old. If you haven’t said “WOOOOHOOOOOOO” in a while, you might be overdue for big fun.
Just the idea of skydiving takes a lot of people waaaay out of their comfort zone. Heights, claustrophobia, and straight-up fear are common deterrents… and the act of staring the anxiety right in the face is incredibly empowering.
The clarity you gain and the reclamation you feel after the relatively quick experience that is a full skydive is unparalleled. If there’s a richer return on spiritual investment out there, we want to know about it! It’s as if you take off as one person and land as another with superpowers that make you braver, bolder, and more confident. Scared to talk to your boss about that title change, or maybe freaked out about that next step in your relationship? Not any more! You are someone who can do things.
And when you need a reminder of the incredible things you’re capable of, watch your skydiving video or jump again! It will all come racing back.
Some people who skydive live for the now. Not timid, not risk-averse, not stuck in one gear… but ready for anything! These are people who may be labeled “adrenaline junkies” or deemed to have a “death wish”. We’re here to tell you, it’s deeper than that.
Skydivers love freedom. They love to be released from day-to-day responsibilities, from heartache and pain, from financial woes, and from tough choices. Skydiving is playtime. It’s that favorite song on the air, wind in your hair, best day ever feeling. And best of all: the benefits last long after you’ve landed. The sweet taste of freedom makes all those earth-bound realities easier to face and accomplish. Ahhhh…
Life throws you all sorts of character-building curve balls that you have no choice but to deal with. They may be tough to juggle, hard to carry, or fragile and frightening… but they do not define you. Only you get to choose who you are. You have the power to put things into motion that will allow you to grow in new and magnificent ways.
People who skydive tend to love setting goals and smashing them. The act of harnessing your strength, writing your own story, and letting it shine is mega – it says a lot about who you are. Life can be long, y’all. There is time for you to be intentional – take it!
Here’s something you might not have seen coming – these four drivers for first-timers are present in licensed skydivers. The soul-nourishing thing that brought them to our dropzone in the first place might be different, but the reason they stuck with skydiving is the same: it’s amazing.
When you’re ready to get your hair blown back, come and see us. We’ll be here, making magic, every weekend from 8 am to sunset!
